Trama: parte 1

Nel periodo seguente alla guerra di secessione, c'era un misterioso mostro grande e veloce in mare che affondava le navi che incrociavano la sua rotta: così raccontavano i pochi superstiti. Il professor Aronnax, studioso parigino della vita nei fondali marini, insieme al fiociniere canadese Ned Land e al suo fedele servo Conseil, si imbarca sull'Abraham Lincoln, fregata allestita dalla Marina degli Stati Uniti per avviare l'impresa di distruggere quel mostro. Dopo un lungo viaggio, i protagonisti si stanno quasi per arrendere quando finalmente identificano il mostro nei pressi del Giappone: i cannonieri aprono il fuoco, ma i colpi rimbalzano e il mostro passa al contrattacco mandando la nave alla deriva. Così, i tre personaggi si ritrovano su un'isola galleggiante che, passata la nebbia, si accorgono essere il mostro stesso. In realtà si trattava di un grande sottomarino chiamato Nautilus e comandato dal Capitano Nemo: Aronnax, Ned Land e Conseil furono presi e imprigionati all'interno.


Plot: first part

In the period following the Civil War, there was a big and mysterious monster, fast sinking into the sea the ships that crossed his route: the few survivors told so. Professor Aronnax, Parisian studious of life in the seabed, with the harpooner Canadian Ned Land and his faithful servant Conseil, embarks on the Abraham Lincoln, frigate set up by the United States Navy for start the expedition to destroy that monster. After a long journey, protagonists are about to give up when they finally identified the monster near Japan: the gunners opened fire, but the shots bounce and the monster moves to counter by sending the ship adrift. Thus, the three characters find themselves on a floating Island that, passed the fog, they realize to be the same monster. In fact it was a large submarine called Nautilus and commanded by Captain Nemo: Aronnax, Ned Land and Conseil were caught and imprisoned inside.
